TBT-sometime in the 80's

Retired Coal Miner To EPA: 'We're Dying, Literally Dying For You To Help Us' | ThinkProgress

I would imagine that if given the opportunity to work in the coal mines for the rest of your life or work in a company producing some sort of clean energy the choice would be a simple one...it's just bizarre to me that in the 15th year of the new millenium we would still be relying on burning coal to keep warm and generate power...when we know so much about the potential of just the sun itself not to mention that of wind and water...the only apparent reason for this conundrum is money. Convert all coal mining operations to alternate energy producing entities and the people will still have jobs maybe more so...their health will improve saving millions in healthcare costs, and we will be able to stop raping the land for it's mineral resources which pollute the environment with the afterbirth...I'm just saying...

it's time for the medical community to step up and do some serious research...

A Florida single mother of four announced this week that she believes a strain of cannabis has saved the life of her youngest child, 19-month-old Nettie, after doctors said that no more could be done to keep her alive. “Nettie was going to die,” Rachael Garner told Yahoo Health about her daughter. “I feel 100 percent sure it has saved her life.”

I like to be fair about these things...

and I have to say that I mostly agree with this tpm...however the one solution that gets the short shrift would be to totally decriminalize marijuana...this would go a long way to reducing the drug trade problems. addressing the entire drug problem with the goal of treatment instead of incarceration for users would do a lot to help as well...when our government becomes more synergistic instead of engaging in partisan party obstructionism for the sole purpose of winning elections and garnering political capital for self aggrandizement it will function more closely to the ideals that created this nation...
